Tasting Menu Etiquette

Hi!

My husband and I are rather new to the fine dining scene. We are traveling to Chicago with a university club and are considering dining at either Alinea or moto, both of which offer seemingly fabulous tasting menus. Being both a newbie to the scene and having a limited amount to spend, we were wondering if is it acceptable to share one tasting menu between the two of us?
