Pre-Theatre Restaurants NYC
Hi - I am looking for suggestions for restaurants in NY to head to before a show.
And, while I'm at it - are there any light fare places to go to after the show either in the area or a cab ride away?
Thanks!

I went to NYC this past weekend and enjoyed Bar Jamon a lot. They serve a lot of tapas options, many vegetarian. Another night we had drinks at the W Hotel on 17th street near Union Sq.
In my experience, is better to have dinner AFTER the show rather than before. I do not like to rush my dinner and neither get hungry at 5:30/6PM which is about the time you need to have dinner to be done by 7:30PM to get to the show before 8PM. You can have something lite to eat in mid-afternoon that will hold you until 10/10:30PM.
Many resturants near the shows have reservations at 10:30PM, at least on Saturdays. We had reservations at Le Bernadin for 10:30pm last Saturday. We left the restaurant at 1:30AM. That would have never been possible if we had to leave dinner by a certain time.

I'm glad you asked this question! Last year Brasserie Cognac opened on 55th and Broadway--the answer to all our pre or post theater dining needs. The Chef, Florian Hugo, is amazing and the food is excellent! Great wine list and obviously plenty of congac too. Have fun!
