Oven Rack Cleaning
Yuck! I am cleaning my oven racks and I have a double oven. I use Easy Off but it is not easy. Are there any newer products or methods that make this job easier?
Whenever I do it, I swear never to roast chicken again!

I use Playtex gloves and scouring pads and dig right in after the EasyOff process. I hate the job.

I have a gas oven with a built in cleaner - but when I had to clean mine - I did it outside on garbage bags to protect my lawn from the Easy Off as best I could. To be honest, probably not the most environmentally safe option, as I know full well a bunch of the cleaner went into my grass, but there ya go!

A tip that works well for me. I put the rack in a green garbage bag after spraying with Easy Off, I close the bag tightly and leave it overnight and the next day, it is just so much easier to clean. Good luck!

The garbage bag trick sounds great...must try that.
I am bad...I soak mine in the bathtub overnight and then scrub. I don't even use oven cleaner on them. (I do on the inside of the oven though).
I would just love an oven I did not have to clean....

I use the mr clean heavy duty eraser. It removes all the baked on crap and you can then rinse with a wet paper towel. This is the best thing ever for most baked on grime. If a find a spot that need soaking I use barkeeper's friend.

I don't know if they make it any more, but Dawn Power Dissolver is awesome. Spray and let it set for 20 minutes - it smells awful but works like a charm. I used to use it on my old electric stove burner covers as well. Now that I have a gas range I find a strong sponge and soap works just fine.

The May/June Cooks Illustrated had a quick tip on this that called for the inside the garbage bag method. After the overnight soak, place grill on newspapers and wipe all the gunk off. Use rubber gloves.

Letting them lay on the grass (overnight) on a night with lots of dew does wonders!!!

I spray on the easy off then take them to the car wash. You'd be amazed at how east this is.

I tried putting spraying on easy off then putting the racks in a garage bag and closing the bag. The racks were easier to clean the next day. Thank you bareneed and remander.
