Old tomato juice
My mother was cleaning out her basement, and there was 2 cases of tomato juice there, maybe 3-4 years old, 'Do you want these?' she asked. Indeed I did.
It was easily the best tomato juice I have ever had, once I finished off the 2 cases I picked up two cans at the grocery store but the first one was far too fresh, I didn't like it at all. The second has been sitting in my kitchen, for maybe a month now.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with aging tomato juice? I know it's real tasty at that 3 year mark, but I really hope it gets to be like that much sooner.

Er, did it ferment into a bloody mary?

A can has been processed and its hardly fresh. Maybe its the brand you chose. I never drink tomato juice out of a can. Get some tomatoes ripen them in a brown bag and then puree them and age the juice in your fridge.
Processed food should be used in moderation.

Could it have been that the tomato juice you drank had been canned fresh, and the reason the same brand didn't taste the same is because (like a few brands) they've begun canning juice made "from concentrate?"

You should try making your own juice, I highly recommend it too. Although the way I make my juice is different from JerzeeTomato s. I ripen my tomatoes by leaving them out on the sun for 2-3 days then slowcook them.( I live in always sunny places) for at least 3 hours with constant stirring. Add a little sea salt for better taste and drain the juice. Use only glass bottles for storing!
