Looking for whole rabbit

Does anyone know where I can get a rabbit (fur, head, and all, ie complete but not alive) in NY?

Thank you!

Try Staubitz Market in Brooklyn -- I'd call first:
718-624-0014

If they can't get it for you they can probably lead you in the right direction. Good luck!

I am intrigued.

Yikes!!!!!!!!!

For a whole rabbit, look in the rabbit hole. Sorry,,,I couldn't help myself.

pet store?

oh wait, you don't want live ones.. hmm...

I've seen rabbit in a few Russian delis in Brooklyn, but they are all ready butchered.
I have never seen one with head, fur and all.

There is a Asian Market in Woodside queens that sells them, I do not know the name but it is on 51st in queens. Do a google search, I have gotten rabbits there b4.

Okay, I have no idea on where to get this, but I have to ask...what are you using it for?

Ok, if yr gonna bother to skin and butcher it, why not spend the time to hunt one down? The the "farm" to table thing all the way, right?

ummm ............ wtf??

Fairway harlem has whole rabbits for sale, but they're cleaned of fur and such. why do you want that anyway? is this actually to eat?

I'm not sure it's permitted under the health codes to sell an animal for consumption that way. My understanding is that commercially sold meat has to meet USDA regulations, with the animal being slaughtered and processed in a USDA-approved facility. I don't know how the carcass could be inspected if still encased in the fur. Perhaps this doesn't apply to rabbit, though.

If anyone knows about this sort of thing, please clarify.

Is this a Basic Instinct thing?

They have rabbit in every imaginable way ready for you at the butcher shops on Arthur Ave. in the Bronx...sometimes they hang them in the window.

Try searching live poultry markets. I think Canola Market in Brooklyn has them. They will probably kill the animal when you get there so it's fresh. I don't think Lorenzo is correct about whole animals not being permitted to be sold under health codes. I've definitely seen all kinds of whole animals hung in store windows.
