Ko Vs. Ssam Bar

So I have read many people say that Saam Bar is as good as Ko and that Ko just may be a little more refined. Should I just go to Saam Bar, or should I really just go all out and do Ko?

If you've already managed to get a Ko reservation, go to Ko.

I think Ko is better bang for your buck. $100 at Ko gets you much more, and in my opinion, much better food. Better simply because of the fact that Ko only has 12 seats. Your food is cooked for you personally.

Agree with Simon, Ko is better food, prepared right in front of you, and a better overall experience. If you value the cache of the hardest to get reservation in America, than it's a no brainer.

Personally, the best dish at any of the Momofuku spots is the Pork Bun with fried poached egg served up at Milk Bar. That and the Stumptown coffee for $11 is the best breakfast in NYC.

i'll chime in for the spicy sausage and rice cakes at ssam. great hangover lunch but a bit hefty at 18 bucks. ko is a nice once a year meal but i like that at ssam you can get out for as little or as much as you like.

I Ssam once a week. You will too after you try it. Ko is an incredible experience not to be passed up. No harm in doing both.

I go to Ssam at least once a week, and Ko at least once a month. Certainly, Ko gives you more bang for the buck, but in terms of quality, it would be like comparing apples to oranges. I would probably give Ko a slight edge in terms of creativity and quality, but not by much.

How is the dress code there?

Ko is definitely an experience and delicious but the menu does not change that much. lunch at Ko is even more elaborate than dinner (and more expensive but possibly easier to snag a reservation), if you want to make it truly over the top.

Ssam's menu changes a lot and it's the kind of place you can go any time. the food is good but not as intricate as Ko. Plus you only get the shaved foie at Ko :-)

if you have the reservation already, go to Ko; if you don't, try to get it. If you fail, you can always go to Ssam.

no dress code, it's all very casual and don;t expect plush anything at Ko - you'll be sitting on stools around a counter. but the food will be sublime.

It's your typical blurred line between casual and dressy. I wore jeans with black shoes a white button down shirt and a black suit jacket. Some people were very formally dressed, others were less than I was. It's an elegant restaurant. I felt a little under dressed in my jeans honestly, but maybe it's just be.

I usually like to dress up when I go to Ko, but there really is no dress code to speak of at any of the Momofukus. I've seen people in jeans and T-shirts at Ko, as well as men in suits.

Ko and Saam are totally different experiences. You really should go to both! Ko is great because the food is more refined and experimental, but Saam has that deliciously sloppy street food feel that really makes your mouth water.
