Is Copia gone for good?
We are planning a trip to the West Coast and were going to travel through Napa on the way and wanted to visit Copia. I was on their email list and it just dawned on me I hadn't gotten an email lately. When I did a search I read about their Chapter 11 -- did they indeed go bankrupt and out of business? Say it ain't so! I was fortunate enough to have met the Mondavis in 2001 when I was researching a story on the Napa Valley area and heard of their plans for Copia and I kept thinking I would get the opportunity to visit there, but never did. So this was to be the year : ( Guess it won't be hapnin'. Can anyone who has been there share their experiences? I just can't imagine there wouldn't be enough support in that area to sustain it. I mean, it IS wine and haute cuisine territory.

Copia is definitely gone forever. They had a lot of issues, and never recovered from some misguided decisions in their very early days, and continued mismanagement until the end. (At one point, I know that the restaurant Julia's Kitchen was bringing in more people than the museum.)
Ironically, the redevelopment area that COPIA was the foundation of is/was finally starting to gain some traction. Oxbow Market, which is next door to COPIA's building, might be an interesting detour.
