Colored Chocolate?

Can you add color to melted white chocolate, or will it ruin the chocolate? What would you do? I am trying not to have to buy bags of different colored chocolate.

I've used food paste colors. Never tried liquid food colors, but I'd worry that it would seize.

yeah, use oil-based colors.
wilton makes some... those might be easy to find around you. amazon carries it too.

I always use colored food paste.

I've had chocolate seize on me when I tried using gel food coloring...

If it's an option, I would buy already-colored chocolate (I've seen it in the cake decorating/candy-making section of Michaels craft stores, and I'm assuming it can't be too difficult to find other places). Chocolate is so tempermental, I would add as little stuff to it as I could :)

What are you trying to make?

I was just wondering if there might be another decorating option (like using colored candy on a rabbit, rather than dyed chocolate) as the pre-colored white chocolate doesn't taste that good, usually.

Food paste or you can use fat-soluble powdered color. Be careful with the powder though...stains worse than turmeric or beets.

Thanks everyone . I am making cake pops for Easter. I did not want to buy so many different colored Chocolate bits. You all were a big help!
