Challenge: Flooded-In Feast
I live in the tragically weather-prone city of Fargo, ND. As you may have heard, we are in the midst of a record flood. Thus, I wonder what bizarre but delicious combinations Serious Eaters have come up with while stuck in their homes. (I'm a veggie-face, so bonus points for anything without meat!)

We had our march "blizzard" here in Denver this week- nothing big- just one day of blowing snow and shut down roads.. Right before it set in I had gotten to the store & got fondue stuff. Invited the neighboor over and drank wine. He then braved it and walked to the bar. Which closed odwn 2 hrs later due to the weather. : ) (you know you're a lush when....)

Oh and good luck holding back those waters!

I am from Grand Forks originally, so I feel your pain. I am still hoping that the blizzards don't make things worse for us. No one needs this right now.
As for foods, my mother always had, and still has, plenty of tins of beans. Refried, baked, green, you name it. In every variety and flavor known to man. Aside from that, Bisquik for pancakes, which was always a favorite "blizzard" treat. Plus, tomato soup (and *lots* of it) with saltines. Basically just stuff that we could hoard for months and know that wouldn't go off before we could use it. Today, I stick with those (yes, even the Bisquik) and have added on tinned fruit and lots of rice and oatmeal.

Good luck!
My fondest stormed-in memory is from Hurricane Bob, which hit the east coast when I was in, I think, 1st grade. We don't get a lot of scary hurricanes outside Boston, so it's an unusually strong memory. My brother and I stayed downstairs in the basement with our parents, who distracted us with pecan sandies and colored gel "frosting" (which tasted terrible), and we decorated cookies for hours. I think we made pancakes on the camping stove for dinner.
And when Dad went outside to make sure the canoe was upside-down, I was terrified that he would blow away.
