Can you recommend a CSA?

I'm thinking of joining a CSA but I'm not familiar with the programs that are available. I work in Manhattan and live in Sunset Park (Brooklyn).

How do I go about finding a CSA I want to join? Can anybody recommend one? Thanks!

Check this out:

They have listing of tons of CSA's in all five boroughs. There are tons of them, each one has it's own thing going on with particular specialties. I recommend acting fast as many of them have already started selling shares a long time ago. The one I joined sold out of shares in January.

I believe the CSA I joined still has a few shares open (we added a second pick-up day this year which gave us more wiggle room share-wise)...but Park Slope is pretty far from Sunset Park.

Ummmm so I don't have any suggestions, but this is a pretty small world, CandyBean! I live in Sunset Park and work in Manhattan too (probably not that strange), but I lived in Greensboro, NC for the past 4 years (I saw in a previous post of yours that you lived there too).

Anyway, just wanted to say hi...good luck finding a CSA!

Hi! I'm glad a friend of mine forwarded me this post. There is, in fact, a CSA in Sunset Park that we are just starting up this year! If you're interested, and I hope you are, send an email to sunsetparkcsa@yahoo.com and we'll email you our FAQ sheet and membership form and answer any questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you!!

Take care,

Go to Slow Food Nation, google it, and you can find a CSA near you though them I believe.

I think they only deliver to Westchester and Manhattan, but this was my farm share last year: http://www.myfarmshare.com

Thanks for all the feedback. I joined the new Sunset Park CSA mentioned above. Can't wait for the ripe tomatoes and cucumbers and lettuces to start rolling in!

SEAtoNYC - what a fun coincidence!
