best affordable sushi in midtown/UES?

I've recently moved to the low E. 60's and am looking for some good sushi in the area. I've tried Totoya (63 &1) but thought it was sub-par... Though I do not want to pay Nobu prices, I am willing to spend a bit for quality.

Does anyone know of some good sushi restaurants in the area?

Sushi Seki. Agree that Totoya is not that great.

Sushi Seki is the way to go. Its not cheap, but its amazing! The Seki special platter, plus a few additional pieces will fill you up without spending a fortune. Even if you don't do the omakase, ask the sushi chef or waiter what they'd suggest, I've never left disappointed. If you're looking for a more everyday sushi kind of place, Matsu on 70th between 1st and York. Cute little place, always fresh and extremely reasonable.

ko sushi on 2nd and 70th is pretty good, and not too terribly expensive.

I have to add that I love Poke Sushi on 85th between First and Second. It's a bit farther uptown but it is really really good and definitely affordable prices. Also, it's BYOB and no corking fee. Long lines on Friday night though, look out.

kami sushi on second ave betw 54th and 55th is my take away or delivery place. Teriyaki tofu is great as well.

Forgot to add, prices are surprisingly good for the area. Did u go to ps 42?

Ko is my fave. The Manhattan roll is quite yummy.

Last time I went to Ging (in the high 80s - 88th or 89th I believe - and 3rd Ave), the sushi was amazingly fresh and delicious. Lower down but still on the east side is Akari Sushi on E 14th between 1st and Ave A - delicious, fresh, CHEAP and fast delivery. I agree with Allot that Ko is great, too.

Oyogu on 1st, b/w 63rd and 62nd is affordable and solid. Their Valentine Roll is great. I second Seki if you want to spend a bit more.

tatany 72 is great. 3rd ave and 72nd st.
