Baked
Is going all the way out to Red Hook to Baked worth the trip? Is there a fast way from Grimaldis'? Really the fastest we have seen is by foot and that's about a 30 minute walk. I just want to make sure it's worth the effort of getting there.

You could try walking to Gold Street and catching the B61 bus, which goes to Red Hook. Depending on when you go, it might be faster walking from Grimaldi's to Baked.

Yep, B61 is the way to go. Or, if the weather is nice, just ride your bike!

well... there's a little coffee shop place on the SW corner of 6th ave and 11th st that sells Baked's goods. I forget the name, sorry, but i've had stuff from there and it's damn tasty.
i've also baked from their cookbook. everything i've made turns out great! that's less about my baking prowess and more about the quality of their recipes ;)

Definitely worth the trip, even from Jersey City!

So good! Take the bus and it's totally worth it. Make sure you try the sweet and salty cake.

I can also second the cookbook. I've made a few things, all to rave reviews.

@watchforbears, agreed! Best marshmallows and much cheaper than Tazza, which sells Baked marshmallows for a 200% markup.
Baked is a fun experience. There are lots of other neat reasons to go to Van Brunt Street in Red Hook- not least of which is the Kentshire Gallery, small artspace nearby that has a secret back room...
