Anything special going into your menu today?

OK, it's the wearing of the green day. Anyone making anything special in its honor? I know people that aren't Irish celebrate today, too, so other than vile green beer, what's cooking? Any traditions you keep for today? I'm cooking a corned beef (in ginger ale) and I'll be making Irish soda bread, but instead of just boilng the taters and cabbage etc., I'm going to par steam new red potatoes and then roast them and some brussel sprouts with just a little olive oil and salt and pepper. I've also convinced SO to light the grill to grill up some beautiful asparagus I found. So what's on your menu?

I would like to, but my kitchen is currently an operation theater for BF's 46 inch DLP tv. It's the only place with a table big enough to try to replace the broken color wheel.

I think we'll be eating out tonight. Again.

This might help, in case everyone is too busy cooking to drop in today....

I'm making corned beef too...but only because my husband wants me to make hash with the leftovers. Like his grandma used to make. Well, I don't know if I can do that but I'm certainly gonna try! Also, just discovered Bento and am making some things for that too! So I guess it's an Irish/Japanese kinda day!

I'm eating the other pot of dolma I made Sunday night! Maybe I'll throw in some cabbage and have middle eastern/irish day.

I made corned beef for the first time ever - I let it cook on Low in the crock pot overnight with some veggies and a ton of Guinness. Tonight I'm going to saute some cabbage with last night's leftover colcannen (sort of a hash) and pop the corned beef under the broiler for a few minutes with a glaze on top. The bf has never had corned beef before, so hopefully he likes it! I'm also making Irish soda bread. I actually am Irish, so I do love this holiday.

I have a corned beef in the crockpot with turnips and potatoes...will boil up the cabbage when I get home from work and serve with a side of (sorry) canned sliced beets...tomorrow is the real treat though...taking all of the leftover veg and some of the pot liquor for Red Flannel Hash with a dash of cider vinegar and any leftover brisket and possibly a fried egg...ooh I can't wait until tomorrow.

I'm making vietnamese fresh shrimp spring rolls. There are green herbs involved, does that make it Irish?

@bananamonkey...everything's Irish on St. Patrick's Day!

I'm making shepherd's pie and Irish soda bread with the roommates. and going out for a green beer afterwards :)

Funny - my family is Irish, but we've never once eaten corned beef for any type of family get-together. Anyone else?

I am going to try something Indian today. Lots of good food recipe at http://www.RitusCooking.com. I am going to try some salads.

Made my second Irish soda bread today and submitted it to our work potluck/cooking contest. I was robbed, though; the winning recipe was vegan Irish "beef" stew!

Oh, and I tried a bottle of Guinness Extra Stout. Meh.

I had colcannon, green fried rice, bok choy, and green tea cupcakes for dessert. The menu doesn't really make sense, but centered around a green theme to make up for the lack of green in my outfit today.

Sake Braised Short Ribs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guinness beef stew, soda bread, and smitten kitchen's much talked about Chocolate Guiness cupcakes with Irish Cream buttercream--they were beautiful and a big hit!

I have corned beef, but I had already had some boneless beef ribs out yesterday. SO, in honor of SPD I pureed green bells, onion, carrots, celery, garlic and after browning the ribs, and the puree, I braised them for 4 hours. Served over cheese polenta that I had stirred in chopped parsley and green onions. It was dare I say...DINNER!!
