Unseasonably warm weather food?
It's not too uncommon for temps to reach the 80s here at this time of year, but tomorrow we're getting close to 90.
So my question is, what do you like to eat when the temperature far surpasses the season? I'm craving something fresh and bright (especially since I've been able to cook for the past couple of weeks), but the produce hasn't caught up to the temperature... Maybe it's time to hit the citrus hard.

Ooh, now that's some warm weather. And here I thought 50 was great! Definitely fire up the grill and I would do a citrus and seafood mixture wrapped in butter crunch lettuce or a nice big salad topped with this recipe from epicurious.com. Grilled Shrimp with Lemon.

Definitely fire up the grill! For me grilled shrimp is the best warm weather meal with a nice citrus salad.

Yep go for the grill.....get outside - enjoy the spring. And then let's have this conversation in August when the temp cools down to 90 from 100. And hopefully the humidity stays low.
My favorite warm / hot temp vice is Cola Icee's from the local gas station. Also cold crisp apples !

It's superwarm here too! I went from having 4 ft of snow in my backyard to near 60F weather all this week. Unfortunately, the backyard is northfacing and there is still two feet of snow all the way from the shed where the grill is to its normal spot on the patio. Sadness!
My favorite warm weather meal is tabouleh, grilled asparagus, and grilled rare ahi tuna steaks. mmmmmmm

I'm jealous.
It's still in the 30s and going down to 20s or teens tomorrow. I don't handle cold weather very well.
It gets very humid and warm and people don't like A/C where I come from, so there are many warm weather food. mostly chilled noodles.
- chilled soba noodles with cold dipping sauce, wasabi and nori
- chilled somen noodles (served with ice cubes) with chicken and dried shiitake mushrooms in cold broth
- chilled Chinese egg noodles with toppings (cucumbers, cold cuts, eggs, sesame seeds) with sesame sauce
- shaved ice.
I can't think of anything else since it's been a long winter...

One of my favorite hot summer meals is a cantaloupe salad with a cilantro and citrus dressing served with some thin slices of prociutto. To make the dressing I take fresh squeezed orange juice add a bit of honey and some chopped cilantro into a glass jar, give it a good shake and let it sit for an hour or two in the frige. It hits the spot!

I make spring rolls with rice paper wraps, I put cilantro, butter lettuce, avacado, cukes & shrimp. A couple nice dipping sauces make it great.

Warm weather? What's that?
Whatever you eat, enjoy the hell out of it for all of us still freezing in the snow.
Thanks.

Well I did fire up the grill for some pork chops and grilled red peppers. Not bad, but I overcooked the chops... Shrimp is definitely cued up (we have it about one a week or so).
I can't wait to get good tomatoes, watermelon, and cantaloupe, but I think it's still a few weeks away. The spring rolls sound like a great idea. I've been craving fresh food after weeks of relying heavily on takeaway and frozen pizzas, and I have been meaning to give spring rolls a shot.

Chiming in late here.....I'd be grilling too!
Pork chops can be tricky to grill...I've done the same thing....now I take them off before I think they're done & let the residual heat finish cooking them.
Still cold here...the only thing I'll be using my grill for this weekend is cooking down maple sap....collected nearly 4 gallons in 2 days from 2 tree taps. I'm hoping to have a couple more gallons waiting for me today when I get home before another cold spell kicks in this weekend.
Enjoy the warm weather!

I always like to make some kind of fruit salad, pasta salad, other similar things.
Here's a good, unique salad recipe made with quinoa.
Quinoa and Black Bean Salad
I've made it a couple of times and it's pretty tasty.
