Question: What to do with 'panini spread'?

I received a jar of "panini spread" and am too embarrassed to ask the "giver" what it's used for or on! Can someone please help me before the expiration date expires?

It's for Panini's... Italian pressed sandwiches.

maybe a better description would be grilled and pressed sandwiches....

Wouldn't you just use it like you would use mayonnaise in a regular sandwich? That's what I'm thinking. It is probably just a glorified mayo or pesto.

What is the flavor? I would make a suace for fish, chicken, veggies, if it is a spread put it on crackers, veggies sticks or chips. Bake it in a casserole. Get crazy with it lol.

Best bet is to just open the jar and taste it. If it tastes and feels like it'll start a grease fire in your frying pan use it for grilled sandwiches after they are cooked. I like my grilled sandwiches crunchy so I usually apply the condiment after the fact on the side so the bread doesn't get soggy.

I would put it on a panini.
I mean, it sounds kinda like a BS product--i can't really see what kind of special properties a spread would need for use on a panini(for that matter, what is the plural of panini? paninis? paninii?)--but i'd guess that's what you're looking at.
and then again--just because the bottle says panini sauce doesn't mean you have to use it for paninis--open it up and taste it. maybe it'd go just as well(or better) with something else.

"Panini spread" is a pretty general term, isn't it? I'm envisioning some kind of pesto or aoili? I'm sure it'll make a great grilled turkey or ham sandwich.

@rasellers0: 'panini' is plural; the singular term is 'panino'.

Is it more oily or creamy? As in, does it appear butter/mayonnaise based or oil infused with herbs and spices? If the latter, marinate some veggies in it, water it down to make dressing, use it as a dip for veggies.

Or...use it as it implies! Make a sandwich, spread it on and grill it with a Foreman. If you don't have a Foreman grill, heat up some butter/olive oil in a pan...place the sandwich in, and place another frying pan on top of it to press the sandwich. When the one side is golden...flip and repeat.
