Do you have any dishes that you think of seasonally that aren't actually tied to that season or holiday?
This comes to mind because as St. Patrick's Day approaches, I keep thinking about how it's time to make galumbki, which are Polish stuffed cabbages. The only tie-in to St. Patty's is that when I was a kid, that was one of the few times a year my mother could get big cabbages with enough large leaves to make the cabbage rolls. At other times of the year, it was pretty hit-or-miss, but when it was corned beef and cabbage season, the cabbages were better for the galumbki. Or so she said.
So now is the time I start thinking about making that dish.
