Nutrition Information: Another Question
I recently asked you all for inspiration on eating healthy and still happy....and you came through for us! Now I am trying to do some nutrional analysis on a lot of our favorite recipes to see how I can make the healthiest changes. I currently use Big Oven recipe software, and the ability is there but the data base of info is VERY limited, and it is a little cumbersome to use.
Mastercook was better, data wise, but had other limitations I could not work around.
Does anyone know of an online nutrition calculator with a good database of ingredients?

Cary, the USDA database is fairly extensive: www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/ But I think you have to search for each ingred individually.
Also try NutritionData.com -- they have a large database and I think it's more user friendly. Their newsletter is pretty good, too, if you're looking for healthy eating tips.
Good luck!

Just n FYI, most of the programs you buy license something like the USDA info for the nutrition calculations within the software itself.

I use the recipe calculator on the website www.sparkrecipes.com. Enter the ingredients (individually) and the number of servings and the program will calculate the nutritional information based on the information in their database.
