Leek greens
I grow a lot of leeks. Love them. Everything that is bio-degradable goes in the garden. Is there something that I can do with the leek greens. other than trow them out.?

While too fiberous to be palatable, leek greens can be used to flavor soups, stocks or sauces. You just tie them in a bundle for easy retrieval at the end of cooking.

That is a great tip, @JohnD, I love the flavour of leeks - I figured the long stems were bitter or something, but now I will do exactly what you suggest - thank you

LOL--I just posted a somewhat similar leek question. Apologies, but thanks for the advice!

I only have trouble with the outermost "leaves". Unless a recipe specifies whites only, I'll still use the green leaves. You can tell when you're cutting them if they're too tough/leathery/rubbery.
