Help! Cookie Dough in check-in luggage?

Can I bring it from the US to the Netherlands? I'm making my bf 31 kinds of cookies and I don't want to (nor do I have time to) bake them.

If I don't do carry-on, do you think I'll have trouble? I'm leaving within a day or so, so the more feedback I get, the better!

I don't see a problem as long as it is in plastic bags. I carried on my sister's wedding cake on a flight from Boston to Tampa.

But, if you are worried about carry on, pack it in a hard sided suitcase and check it. I did that with the icing and the cake decorating tools I was going to need when I reached Tampa.

While not an international flight, my BIL once packed my homemade meatballs in his checked baggage. They were packaged, then wrapped in newspaper to keep the chill. He left a note inside the bag for TSA to know what the item was.
I imagine that you could do the same and would not have problems with TSA. Customs in the Netherlands might be an issues. Call the airline you are traveling with, they might be able to give you some ideas of what to expect on the other side of the pond.

i second also checking with customs -- while i don't anticipate it would be a problem you never know, there are lots of random food rules for what you can bring in and out of different countries.

My brother-in-law works for the TSA he will be here in about an hour. I will ask him but checking with customs is never a bad idea. They are picky about food items.

Travelling into NL with food shouldn't be much of an issue.
Departing from the airport there isn't any immigration or customs, just a passport control, then baggage pickup. If you aren't too suspicious looking, you should be ok! ;)

The main concern would be (as said above) customs. Not so much trying to get it through security. I've brought food through security - notably a Pizza Grano at Easter time. The security guard threatened to tell everyone I had it unless I agreed to share it with him. It was nice to see a security officer with a sense of humor during a hellacious travel day.

The only other concern I might have is that temps can fluctuate a lot in the cargo hold of a plane. I had a bottle of hair conditioner that curdled on a flight. So whatever you bring, make sure it's wrapped adequately to withstand the temperature changes. If it's freezing cold, it's not going to be an issue, but what if it's 90 degrees in there? You don't want your cookie dough in that sort of temperature for hours on end.
