Good Falafel Place in NYC

Hi, first time posting a question here. My Israeli friend and i got into a debate whether it is possible to find a good falafel place in Manhattan. he thinks no one in Manhattan serves a good falafel. Anyone have any suggestions where I might find a really good authentic falafel in the city?

Has your friend tried these places in Union Square? http://newyork.seriouseats.com/2009/02/union-square-area-falafel-nyc-best-maoz-moshes-pita-joe-rainbow-shawarma.html

He could go have a good Israeli argument with them about whether they're authentic or not.

azuri cafe, on 51st or 50th and 10th. best falafel i've ever had.

Has your friend been to Hoomoos Asli (on Kenmare near Lafayette)? It is by a long shot the best falafel I've had in the city, and everyone I've ever taken there has agreed with me!

Pick a pita; undeniably.
247 West 38th

Hummus Place, on the UWS or on St Mark's.

I think there is a little place around Grenwich Village...it's sort of in the basement and it has amazing Israeli Fallafel...I can't remember the name...I know, super helpful :)

There is also a place called Chickpea: YUM

Mamouns...I haven't been there in years, but if they're still as good as I remember then they make a damn good falafel!

Jerusalem Falafel, a little hole in the wall on Broadway between 103rd and 104th. I LOVE their falafel and shwarma combo.

I'm glad to hear that Jerusalem is still there! Can I also add Fatoush in Brooklyn Heights on Hicks at Atlantic? And Heights Falafel on Henry.

Taim. It is amazing.

Taim! On Waverly. Soooooo delicious. I'm also gonna throw one in for Olympic Pita on 37th st.

Do not take your friend to Chickpea! Gross.

@eleeb - they are indeed still there, as greasy as always, and they even recently fixed it up a little too. You can still smell the spices drifting down Broadway from a block away. Their orange blossom tea is a recent discovery of mine, so delicious with a sticky piece of baklava.

I second the motion for Azuri, it's loaded with delicious Israeli salads. It's the best falafel I've had in the city. Get some pea soup too, it's delicious.

Here's a link with delicious photos comparing Taim to Azuri:

Your mention of delicious salads reminded me of Bread and Olive on 45th bet 5th and 6th. They're awesome but have weird hours due to being in a business neighborhood.

Absolutely Taim.
