Free Breakfast at Denny's
Am I the only one who missed the free breakfast @ Denny's!?
I'm sort of mad that it wasn't a feature article on the newsletter. C'mon, Serious Eats!

I never even heard about the free breakfast at Denny's otherwise I would have gone. What sort of breakfast was it? There are not that many Denny's in Seattle anymore, they all folded, which is kind of a drag.

Denny's!!! It was a big hit in my town until the customers were told the restaurant here was privately owned and was not beholden to the 'freebee'. They charged 2 bucks each and the line was down the block and around the corner. Since Denny's is located on the "across the tracks" side of town, there were herds of homeless people panhandling for the 2 bucks. Sad situation.
Personally I wouldn't eat at Denny's under any circumstance. The last time I ate there, about 8 years ago, there was dirt on my plate and burnt grill bits all over my hammy.

The beverages were not included, apparently. Here in St. Louis, apparently the stores were absolutely slammed, lines out the door, people circling the lot looking for places to park, and so on. I suppose this has to do with the economy. I can't imagine why so many people would be interested in waiting in long lines outside on a day when the temp at 8 a.m. was 8 degrees Fahrenheit for mundane food otherwise.

I've had one problem with Denny's, at their Ann Arbor location. Went in there at 5 a.m. and it looked as though they'd had a party. However, I've eaten at about a dozen other locations, thoroughly enjoyed the food and never had another problem. Asking around, I did find any problems were store-specific.

Knew about it and my husband had the time to go, but he said, no way. Of course, I wouldn't have bothered if I had the time since I don't like most breakfast foods.
The news showed the line and traffic at 6:00 at one of the Denny's ~10 min from where I live. People were there waiting at 5:30 to take advantage of the offer.
We just figured it was a gimmick because they were not doing well since there are so many 24-hour restaurants these days.

Guess we know who didn't watch the Steeler's win!! Did anyone else notice the "banana-pus" at the beginning of the Denny's commercial? It was so funny!!

Me and my daughter went at 6:30am and the place in Addison, TX was packed. But hey, free food still tastes pretty good. Just got charged for the drink.

Speaking of breakfast, for anyone who didn't eat yet (or wants to eat again) and doesn't mind chain diner food, Dennys is giving out a free pancake, eggs, bacon, and sausage meal today (2/3) from 6am-2pm.

I saw the ad during the Super Bowl and immediately tried to go on the website, and it must have been flooded because it would not load. I still missed it.. closest one is New Jersey, and I got no car. :(

Hm, I love how I posted that an hour and a half before it ended for you East Coasters. Whoops, my bad. Well, here's another one, this time in advance: free short stack of buttermilk pancakes from IHOP on Pancake Day (Fat Tuesday). I think that one's all day. Not sure though, might want to check to make sure.
