Food Blogs?

I don't usually go outside of the major food websites for recipes but I hear from friends that there are a bunch of food blogs out there that offer innovative recipes and they are frequently updated. Does anyone have any suggestions? When I google the term food blogs it comes up with too many results

My favorite food blog is ThePioneerWoman. She adds a new post 3-4 times a week and has a recipe index.

Search for food blogs on this site, it will give you all the threads where this question has been asked here before....lots of great results!

Wow! what a question, as I find that I am constantly much more inspired by food blogs than by cookbooks, and I love to see recipes evolve (like the way no-knead bread was perfected in the blogosphere). Some of my favorites (and I am sure these are wildly popular with other Serious Eaters) are:
www.justhungry.com (japanese food - super simple and delicious)
http://wednesdaychef.typepad.com/ (Love Love LOVE Luisa)
www.davidlebovitz.com (Hilarious, intelligent, handsome - and I am a woman)

I find it's sort of a personality thing which food blogs you read - some intersperse humor and tales of disasters, some love to bake cakes and sweets (baking bites, cookie madness), some take it upon themselves to explain culture with food (justhungry and chocolate & zucchini are two such sites), and some just give you sometimes simple recipes, but always with a story - Orangette, teaandcookies.blogspot.com, the traveler's lunchbox.

And then there are those that just make you smile, like Deb of Smitten Kitchen or Robyn of "The Girl Who ate everything" (a serious eats writer!)

I have these sites on my gmail reader, along with thekitchn.com, simply recipes, and seriouseats. I am always on the lookout for nyc blogs, simply because that is where I live, so you may want to research food blogs in your city - they can lead you to wonderful discoveries! Good luck getting sucked in!

I love the Amateur Gourmet -- he's honest as he is funny

I will never talk about anyone bad in the food blog arena. People who take the time to photo their food and write down every pinch of whatever are always amazing to me. I read a lot of food blogs. Have been for years. Some of them its not the food its the pics. Some of them its not the pics but the recipes. Some of them its not the recipes its the execution and some it is not anything but their unique take on everything.
Check out profiles here. Some people have blogs then go off their blog roll and surf.
For openers try http://www.tastespotting.com/

I agree with Prune and Healthygirl. My favorites are also David Leibovitz, Simply Recipes, Wednesday Chef and Deb. I also go to 101 cookbooks and David Leite.

@ Suzzanne, I love Pioneer Woman too!

although not updated as often as i'd like, Melissa Camero's site has interesting, easy to make food, with stunning photos.

Cooking for Engineers is also really good, and nearly everything is easier than you'd think:

Those are all my hotspots.

I am way too lazy to link these all right now, but google them and they're easy to find:

- 101cookbooks (vegetarian natural food, recipes please meat eaters easily)
- Kalyn's Kitchen (South Beach Diet recipes that appeal to non-dieters)
- Simply Recipes (simply delicious family recipes)
- smitten kitchen (great variety, lots of baked goods, all delicious)
- bitchn camero (a SE'er if I'm not mistaken ...)

I have about a dozen more bookmarked, but these are the blogs I check first when I'm looking for a good recipe for anything.

A few of my favorites (I am a dessert/baking person, if you couldn't tell!):

- Joe Pastry (http://www.joepastry.com)
- Tartelette (http://tartelette.blogspot.com)
- La Tartine Gourmand (http://www.latartinegourmande.com)
- Cannelle et Vanille (http://cannelle-vanille.blogspot.com)
- Bake or Break (Not updated too frequently these days. Be prepared for lots of chocolate! http://www.bakeorbreak.com)
- Michael Laiskonis (Great writing. http://michaellaiskonis.typepad.com/main)

For more sweets, I also heartily recommend David Lebovitz

An Olive Tree Grows in Brooklyn (will post link later, I'm not in my normal computer)

and Baroness Tapuzina http://baronesstapuzina.wordpress.com/

Pinch My Salt has some pretty good recipes as well:

You should try www.thefoodblogblog.com, where you can browse until you find some that you like.

All of the ones mentioned above are great and you can even browse the "photograzing" tab at the top of SE to flip through blogs.

My name is TaraTot and I have a huge food blog addiction.

I really like to check out the photograzing page on this site, tastespotting and foodgawker. You can find some great food blogs on there.

I also read The Pioneer Woman blog, she's great!

Oh! Also Food Blog Links is an RSS feed of a whole bunch of food blogs. I check it every day!

by Lucy Vaserfirer is my favorite. The recipes are great, well written, and are fun to read and photos are amazing. She puts at least two new posts weekly, and I am really looking forward to her new posts.

I also enjoy Hungry Cravings. It has great recipes that are easy to make. I ate the polenta recipe on the site tonight and it was fantastic!

I can't believe no one has mentioned foodwishes.com with Chef John. It's my personal favorite.

Lately, I'm digging Lily's Wai Sek Hong. It's a fun mix of recipes with a big focus on Asian cuisine. Great pictures, too!

I can't wait to explore the blogs all linked in this thread...One of my favorite things to do after I find a food blog I like is to troll their blog roll to see what food blogs they read. I'll shamelessly self-promote my own blog, Hungry Desi too. It's mostly Indian vegetarian dishes with fairly simple recipes.

I love Pioneer Woman, Last Night's Dinner, For the Love of Cooking, and most recently discovered Closet Cooking...

I really like Homesick Texan. We're in similar situations; we live in New York and miss Texas food and try to replicate it.

I have so many I like, but Pioneer Woman is my fave.

I also quite like Rock Recipes at www.rockrecipes.blogspot.com and Vanilla Sugar at www.vanillakitchen.blogspot.com

@redhead.....Thanks for posting the link to BlogChef! I can't wait to try some of those recipes!

I recently discovered bakespace and LOVE it! I go there almost as much as I come here.
