exotic spices
Do you know any good online vendors that sell exotic spices that are cheap? I usually go buy it from a Middle Eastern store located around me but it is costly and I was wondering if I could order it online? I am located in Montreal, Canada, but my brother is located in New York so I can order it to his address if the vendors are just in the US?

This is a little restaurant and market in Homewood Alabama... I started buying all my herbs and spices here that I don't already grow and the prices have always been great. They do a great job also with Lebanese spice mixes, nuts, cheeses etc... the website isn't great but it'll give you the contact info and you can call them and ask for what you want. They are very nice people!

If you're not looking to buy large quantities, your best bet is to to hit up the South-Asian stores in Parc-Ex or Lasalle.

I'd strongly recommend World Spice Merchants. I use their spices in my competition BBQ seasonings and the quality and service are top-notch. In fact, they don't even accept online payment. They ship and ask that you pay them when you receive it.
I hope this helps,
John

I use Pendery's in Fort Worth, TX. If you want it, I'd be surprised if they can't get it. I like them because they're a small, locally owned business and pay a lot of attention to the quality of their merchandise. I judge spice merchants on freshness, and I have never been disappointed.
FWIW, my brother was the sous chef at a touted restaurant in Fort Worth for a number of years, and Pendery's is the vendor that his restaurant uses.

South Asian stores. You'll find things for roughly 50% the price of World Spice Merchants.

I like to shop at http://www.starwest-botanicals.com/ They have an incredible selection of not only spices, but herbs and looseleaf teas, all at incredible prices. Not only that, but their inventory is so varied that you can spend hours just crawling their merchandise. I hope this helps, and good luck finding your spices.
