Best bagels in West Village?
Looking for the best bagels in the West Village near Jane St. I have a preference for a smaller chewier bagel -- Bagel Talk on the UWS is my reference point.
Any advice would be much appreciated. So far my menu pages survey of places has been disappointing.

hudson bagels at the northeast corner of hudson & christopher makes bagels on the small-ish side which are quite chewy. I've had great experiences with both unheated bagels with cream cheese, egg sandwiches, and plain old bagel not even sliced. great staff, my bagels never taste old.

Hudson Bagels are solid, and give Murray's a run for their money, but overall, there are no bagels in the West Village.
Best Bagels in the Northeast-- Sam's (formerly Stein's) in West Caldwell, NJ. Hands Down.
