Anyone have an Old Bay boiled peanut recipe?

I was at a Memorial Day party and they had boiled peanuts seasoned with Old Bay and I can't seem to stop thinking about them. They were delicious. I'm sort of becoming a woman obsessed. Does anyone have good tips for boiling the peanuts and when to add the seasoning?

I would say you want to use 1 gallon of water per pound of peanuts, as well as 2 tablespoons of kosher salt per pound. Also, you want to be cooking them for 3-5 hours; after cooking, drain peanuts and then season. I hope this helps, and enjoy!

Be sure to use "green" rather than "raw" peanuts. Of course, roasted peanuts are not suitable for boiling. If you must use raw peanuts, figure on boiling them for several hours.

Cover the green peanuts with plenty of water. Two tablespoons of salt is NOT enough! Also, two hours should be plenty of time to boil them. Best way to tell if they're done is to eat a couple.

I would think adding a quarter cup of Old Bay would be about right.
By the way, green peanuts are not easy to find. They very seasonal.

green peanuts are more than hard to find, even where I live in NC, even in season, even from peanut farms in the eastern part of the state. I have purchased green peanuts a few times from Asian markets but they were never the freshest.

"Raw" peanuts will work just fine but I agree they do need to be boiled for 4 or 5 hours as opposed to the much shorter cooking time for green peanuts.

I agree two tablespoons is probably not enough but the old bay is salty too. I usually add salt until the water tastes a little salty. not as much as if I was cooking pasta, but getting there. Can always salt more later but it is nice for the salty water to get into the nut.
