My own homemade! I like the fresh, gentle flavor of homemade.
It's very easy to make....I just take a quart of good vodka...I usually use Svedka....put in 5 or 6 vanilla beans that I've slit open....then just put in the pantry for about 6 weeks. Every week or so I pull the bottle out & give it a good shake...then just wait for it to turn nice & brown.
I use vanilla beans I bought on Ebay...I think they're tahitian.

I love vanilla beans for some things, vanilla extracts for others...I usually buy vanilla beans though, because once I use them, I make my own extract from the pods...

I bought a Neilson Massey (great brand) sampler of Mexican, Madagascar, Tahitian from the King Arthur Flour catalog. Also, I always keep vanilla beans in my sugar canisters (both granulated and confectioners). I've soaked beans in vodka, but it seems no matter how long they're in there, the strong alcohol flavor is overpowering. I'm currently experiementing with other liquors.

I LOVE the idea of a vanilla bean sampler - that's wonderful! Think I'll look that one up :-)

I bought mine at Vanilla Products USA on Ebay - they were well sealed, and nice & moist.

When I was just a little girl, my mom was a Watkins lady. I'm not really very particular about any other baking ingredients, but I will always love Watkins double-strength vanilla best!

i love vanilla powder - it's ground vanilla pods and you can use it interchangeably as if it was vanilla extract, sans the alcohol... I love it.

I LOVE vanilla powder as well - we add it to our coffee grounds before brewing - so yummy!
Thanks, everyone, for sharing all of your great resources above :-)
