Serious NYC Eats Recomendation: Indian Food?
Hi Serious NY Eaters!
I'm looking for some great Indian Food south of 14th Street in New York. I've tried various and sundry spots on 6th street and while some have been okay, some have not been good, and some have made me sick, I'm sorry to say.
I'm looking for a sure thing. Fresh, tasty, clean, a serious stand by — 6th Street, is even okay. What's the scoop on the amazing Indian food?
Thanks!

I know it's not exactly where you wanted, but Tamarind really is so good. I know it's not the usual, great cheap take-out Indian spot, but if you want great Indian food, it's the spot.

Brick Lane Curry House maybe?

Based on recommendations here, I tried out Banjara on 1st ave and 6th St.
Food was excellent. Great recommendation by multiple SE: NY visitors.

My favorite place is Angon. Great food, much better decor than most places on curry row and nobody standing on the street trying to get you to come in. Try the tandoori chicken wings.

I second the Banjara recommendation. It is definitely the best spot in that area. If you are willing to travel above 14th, I also second the Tamarind recommendation.

If you're willing to try something a little different, Sigiri, a Sri Lankan place on 1st near 6th street is good.
