Recipe Request: Dense Banana Cake

Hi kids...as we all know, I suck at baking. Hate it. However, I am desiring banana cake. My pal Kim used to make them for me but alas, she is roughly 3k miles away and doesnt know what she did with the recipe she used.

It was a dense thing, very banana-y and was awesome out of the refridgerator (Ive got a thing for cold cake). She thinks there may have been sour cream or buttermilk as well as like 4-5 bananas. She smeared it with cream cheese frosting and left me alone in my glory with a fork and a glass of milk.

Any ideas?

I made this cake and it was damn good. Aunt Paula's husband's mother's banana cake recipe I got over Leite's

It is not light in the least and it is great cold. Half the cinnamon unless you dig it to the 3rd power. I made this as is. I also made it with peanut butter icing and chocolate ganache over the top and it was amazing.

You could also make a torte with a dense, sour cream banana bread. Just slice the loaf in thirds and use the filling and frosting of your choice. Maybe a browned butter/black walnut filling with a cream cheese frosting? I never thought about it, but I think I might give this a whirl. Let us know what you decide and how it works.

There's a great Banana Cake recipe in Cake Bible. Use all-purpose flour instead of the cake flour specified - you'll get your dense cake.

I recently made glenna's banana cake and added chocolate chips. It was very well received!
