Queso de Freir, Anyone?
i just discovered a brand of cheese: tropical - queso de freir, it's a frying cheese.... so lately, because i'm on a low carb diet, i've been slicing the cheese very thinly (1/8"), sauteeing it in a little olive oil ... it's great. crispy and firm, you can use it for a number of things: i've been putting sliced tomatoes, olive oil, garlic and parsley - like a bruschetta.
it's a nice base for numerous things ... anyone out there ever use this?

Cheese fried in olive oil? YUM! I'm going to have to go on a low carb diet.
Maybe right after I finish this bread and pasta with french fries...

i love that stuff. it is great with all sorts of latin/caribbean flavors. i like it with a grilled skirt steak and some chimichuri sauce.

What's the texture like? Kind of sounds like halloumi.

it's a cows' milk cheese, salted.... not quite like halloumi -- but a whole lot cheaper. it's darn good for the price.... i think it's one of those under the radar products that is pretty good. all natural.... it's like a homespun
cheese.... nothing fancy, but really good. fried. certainly try it. my friend who always eats halloumi loves it. it's the new standby.
