In about two weeks, I'm having the right side of my thyroid gland removed. While I've been waiting for this surgery to happen, I've been reading various articles on the procedure and what to expect afterwards. Obviously, since I'm posting this question on Serious Eats, I like my food. I've read that anything with soy in it is not good for your thyroid and it seems like a lot of prepared food has some form of soy in it. I've also read that no matter how sensibly some people try to eat, they still gain weight when they've got a thyroid issue of some sort.
I meet with my doctor Monday, and I'll probably bombard him with questions then, but, in the meantime, I was hoping that somone on Serious Eats could give me any advice on how they've dealt with this. Thanks!
