Greek Meal at NYC's Kefi Last Night Was Very Tasty
We wanted to experience a Michael Psilakis meal so we opted for his newly expanded Kefi on the Upper West Side.
Aside from a rather cold greeting by the hostesses when we entered just before 5 p.m., our evening continued to warm up nicely thereafter. We shared two waves of meze: The spreads served with pita were fresh and delicious, perhaps one of the best versions of this sampler I've ever had. The baccala (cod) was delicious on its bed of mashed potato. Keftedes, Greek meatballs, were incredibly good in their olive and tomato gravy, while the goat cheese dumplings (sort of like quenelles) in their pine nut, olive and tomato gravy were rich and decadent.
Our servers were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. As we left and the tri-level place had filled, even the hostesses turned warm. They had their hands full too from some complaining customers during the evening.
Prices, by the way, are quite reasonable. We will return.
