Metal Peppers?
Ive roasted bell peppers multiple times on the grill and I let them sit covered in a bowl then peal it, but everytime they have tasted very strongly of metal. Bobby Flay had no Idea why; he thought I was mabey roasting it in an aluminium pan when really Ive been doing it straight on the grill.I tried to make raviolis with them and it makes everything taste like metal! Anyone know a solution to this problem????

try a paper bag instead of the bowl.

Charcoal or Gas? Where is it you are talking to Bobby Flay? You are the knife guy if I recall. We are all curious about that.
I put my peppers either right on my gas range on the burner, right on the hot coals on the grill or in a 450 degree oven basted with olive oil for about 20-25 mins then right into a brown paper bag till they are cool.
No metal taste. Seems like it is picking it up someplace.

I roast my peppers, put them in a plastic bag to steam, remove them and skin them, and then put them in either aluminum or plastic - with oil and vinegar. Maybe that inhibits the "picking up" stuff.
OTOH, are you finding other things tasting metallic, too, besides the peppers?

....second Jerzee and the whereabouts of a close knit pepper relationship with Bobby Flay...

I also prefer putting the peppers right on the gas burner. And I'm looking forward to doing this next Tuesday when we are officially in the new house.
If you're grilling the peppers, there is no real reason why they should taste like metal. How did you start the fire? Did you use some type of lighter fluid? Does any other food you prepare on this grill get this effect?

I put 'em straight on the rack under the broiler. Then glass bowl w/plastic or in paper bag.
Are you lubing them w/anything? Maybe that is exceeding it's smoke point.

I was chasing a metallic taste in food that I couldn't figure out, and it ended up being me. Have other people tasted them?

There are many things that can cause a metallic taste without something being wrong with your food prep. If you are the only one with this complaint, then look at yourself for the cause. Several things: medication of several classes, high protein diets, ketogenic diets, and dental, sinus, nasal issues. I agree with dbcurrie-have other taste testers.

my SO absolutely hates peppers in any shape or form, saying "they taste like metal." So I am with the others who wonder about the "taster."

Could be the grill itself. Or more precisely, the grill's lid.
Chris Schlessigner (author of Thrill of the Grill, owner/chef at East Coast Grill in Cambridge, MA) had show on PBS for a while. He never used the lid of his charcoal grill. He said it contributed off flavors. When he needed to cover something, he used an inverted, stainless steel bowl or even disposable cake pans.
