Long Lost Cheesecake

Waaaaay back in the 60's, I grew up in a small steel mill town in Western Pennsylvania which was heavily Italian and slavic culture wise. I remember to this day going to the local bakery and buying a piece of wonderful cheesecake. I'm sure you know how past memories tend to play tricks, but I swear that this cheesecake was light and very cheesy. Think a cross between a sponge cake and cheesecake. I remember it being tall ( 4 inches or so ) and cheesy to the point where it would stick to the roof of your mouth. I'd love to make it, but can't seem to find a recipe or cheesecake like that since. Any ideas?
