Hello.

Due to a small leak in our dishwasher while I was out of town for two weeks ... our plans to "eventually" replace the lower cabinets and replace the awful ceramic tile countertop with granite have been pushed up to "projects to get on this year."

However, granite slabs are super pricy so we're looking at alternatives. The bf suggested Boos block countertop ... but our kitchen is fairly open and with bamboo flooring throughout the house, this otherwise cool idea is starting to sound really, really dumb for our house.

Can anyone recommend a website or forum where I can find ideas on how to redo my kitchen? I realize it's a bit off topic here, but I'm at a loss and This Old House isn't overly helpful, though their info on countertops itself is - I need more than it has to offer. Would this be better for the SE Facebook page?
