How long can cooked bacon sit unrefrigerated?

Hello! Last night I made cupcakes with bacon bits in the batter and a few crumbles on top. Do these need to be refrigerated? If so, how long can they sit out? Of course I didn't think about this until after they were all done :)

I see plenty of bodegas and diners leave cooked bacon sitting out for probably a day before tossing it.

Meats are regarded as a "high risk" food for bacteria growth. According to culinary school, you have about 4 hours at temp between 40 and 140, after that, not a good idea to eat.

Could be wrong with salted, cooked, cured stuff, so double check me.

Bacon is cured and salted so I wouldn't worry about leaving it out for less than 24 hours.

They can be left out safely until I show up, then they are in danger ;~)
