Can I Freeze Cooked Pork?

Can you freeze cooked pork?

You certainly can. Wrap well, and reheat gently. What kind of cooked pork are you freezing?

Hi i cooked it from fresh.

I do, I made some pulled pork awhile back and had alot of leftovers, so I wrapped it up really good and froze it. If I make too much cooked bacon or breakfast sausage I freeze that as well.

Pork freezes beautifully! Much better than chicken or beef, in my opinion...

The only problem I've had with frozen pork (or cooked and refrigerated) is reheating it in the microwave. One word: DON'T! Reheat it in the oven low and slow, preferable tightly covered with foil. For some reason, the microwave alters the taste, and not in a good way.

Yes, you can freeze pork. With leaner cuts, like loin, you might notice a little texture difference. Freeze in as large a portion as possible (and practical) to reduce surface area that can freezer burn. Anything with a sauce, like a stew or bbq pulled pork, chill so the sauce slightly solidifies, then carefully turn out into plastic wrap or zip-top bag. Squeeze out as much air as possible, then freeze. And yeah pjracz, I find that high-fat items like bacon or sausage freeze really well. I keep a small container of cooked, chopped bacon in the freezer at all times to use for seasoning vegetables. Or for a snack.

Yay, good to hear! I popped a container of chile verde in the freezer since it wasn't going to be eaten (we had 2 things leftover and it took us long enough to kill the first half of it, heh).

When I have leftover pork roast (like pork shoulder), I mix it with the gravy and freeze it in a plastic container. It makes for great open face pork sandwiches with mashed potatoes.
