NYC East Village Recommendations?
Anyone have thoughts on good places to try in this neighborhood? (aside from the Momofuku, Una Pizza, and Caracas). There seems to be a lot of places closing these days. Help me fill out the wish list:

for Best Thai I'd vote for Holy Basil. Also a surprisingly nice wine list.
Best mexican... la Palapa? Caracas Arepa Bar is not Mexican, do you have a South American category?
Best italian... Lavagna's still good, isn't it? And Il Bagatto, impossible to get in to. L'il Frankie's for pizza.
Where would you put the lovely and incomparable Prune?

For Indian, Banjara on the corner of 1st and 6th is fantastic.
I'm not crazy for Sushi, but for Soba I love Sobakoh. I have heard that Soba-ya is even better, but I haven't been myself.

@eleeb, Prune is fantastic, love the sweetbreads. I'm looking for more every night places when in the mood for a specific fix.

Best Burger: Veselka
Best Italian: Hearth
Best Thai: ???
Best Korean: I haven't been yet, but Persimmon might be a contender
Best Indian: I'm partial to Medina
Best Sushi: Kanoyama
Best Mexican: Tacos at Zaragoza

Best Burger: Veselka vs. Blue 9 (different styles)
Best Italian: Cacio e Pepe for pasta, Luzzos for pizza
Best Thai: Zabb City (or take out from Rhong Tiam)
Best Korean: all are mediocre, but Gama or Dok Suni
Best Indian: Haveli
Best Sushi: Kanoyama (Ebsiu R.I.P.)
Best Mexican: Zaragoza Mexican Deli...nothing else even comes close.
Don't forget The Redhead for amazing American cuisine with a Southern flair.

Best Korean : Song7.2 at 7th st and 2nd ave. try their table-cooked spicy PORK BELLY WITH CALAMARI .....its amazing... and with the leftovers, they add rice and make a fried rice right there. omg.

Best Indian: not sure of the name, but the one right on the corner of 6th street & 1st ave.

Best Thai: Holy Basil
Best Korean: Dok Suni
Best Sushi: Kura (which has actually extended its name to something like Itsukura - it's the one on First Ave and Fifth Street - love, love)
Best Greek: Pylos
Best Seafood: Mermaid Inn
Best Coffee: Mud
Best Sweets: Butter Lane for cupcakes; Chikalicious for three courses of heaven
Best Others: JoeDoe on First Street (bananas foster french toast for brunch and their fried chickpeas for dinner - yum); Hearth/Terroir (for that gourmet splurge hankering)

And I don't know what category this would go under, but the EV location of Westville is always a reliably tasty standby.
