Does Anyone Know This Vintage Cherry-Flavored, Solid-Jelly Candy?

My dad grew up in the Oakland, California, area until about about 1948 or so. There was a candy he used to buy at J.J. Newberry's, and every once in a while we search for them but never have luck. They are a cherry flavored, solid jelly treat covered with some sort of icing glaze. They are probably a half inch cube or circle. They are not jelly beans or cherry sours. The covering is not powdered sugar, it's definitely a glaze, maybe even call it a form of icing. Can anyone help?
