Coconut Milk Kefir and Complaining
I haven't been able to find a real answer on the interwebs search, so figured I'd ask here:
Anyone know if I can make kefir (with kefir grains) from coconut milk, as opposed to kefir tonic with coconut water?
And if you do know - wanna tell me exactly how? Puh-lease?
[Also, I'm cooking for a woman who follows the Body Ecology Diet... anyone have advice on that? I personally think it's a load of bull and rules for a basic diet of healthy food and fermented vegetables... but open for other thoughts or cooking tips on gluten-free, lactose-intolerant, crazy for probiotics cooking... ]

I have never seen it done with anything but goat and sheep milk (I come from a heavy Polish area so folks I know often make it) but Wikipedia said you could easily so it from coconut milk, as well as other things.

I am sure more searching for kefir enthusiasts will get you some tips, though it seems like the process is quite similar to doing it with milk.
Good luck!

I have made kefir with coconut milk and actively cultured kefir from Trader Joes. I made it with a standard yogurt making procedure and it turned out GREAT.

Just thought I'd let you know that Turtle Mountain just came out with a coconut milk kefir in three flavors! Plain, vanilla, and strawberry. They've got 10 live/active cultures, and they're really yummy!
