Can Aebleskivers Be Made Without the Specific Pan?

I've seen these things mentioned multiple times in multiple places over the past few days, and they look mighty tasty. But really, do I need to go out and by a pan just to make these things? Is there some other way? Anything similar that could be made in another shape using some other type of pan?

And for those of you who have eaten them, if there's no other way, is it really worth buying a pan just to make them?
