Best Ongoing Dining Deals in NYC?

Hi!

I'm going on a double date and we're trying to find some of the best ongoing dining deals (i.e. the pre fix menus and recession specials a lot of restaurants have created recently to boost patronage).

Any ideas? We're looking for places that are delicious and fun but have these sorts of specials.

Thanks!

Tabla has a $25 lunch deal, but I don't know if you only want dinner ideas...

Otto doesn't have a special that I'm aware of, but some of their wonderful antipasti are FOUR dollars! If you're careful you can get in and out of there any time of day rather inexpensively, imo.

This might not be what you are looking for, but...

There was / is a noodle cart in Chinatown on Canal St by the bus stop that serves fresh Chinese rice noodles. You can buy them in various sizes, started at $1.00 for a snack size. They are topped with a few different sauces and crushed peanuts.

They are delicious...I wish I could have some right now...and inexpensive.

Kuta ( satay house in the LES) has a GREAT pre-fixe for dinner - $25 for an app, satay, entree, and dessert!!

Village on 9th St in West Village created the "Fair Market" recession menu - pretty generous serves all around $10 (some under) tapas syle.

One of the best deals and a great place for a date would be Kittichai in Soho. They have a $35 prix fixe pre theatre menu. The atmosphere is very sexy and they have a great bartender who will make you a fantastic cocktail. Also, most of the Jean George restaurants (Mercer Kitchen, Perry St, Jojo, etc) are keeping a lunch and dinner prix fixe menu year round. That could be a good choice too.
