Adam gets his own FN show as predicted

Adam Gertler (sp), former loser on the NFNS got his own show on FN as predicted. "I Work for Food" premieres later this month. The premise sounds lame (he milks a goat to get cheese???), but he probably sued them because, clearly, the fix was in for Big Daddy. It sounds like a rehash of "How'd that Get on My Plate". I know, I know...I need to change the channel. I watch 2 shows for enjoyment and some out of morbid curiosity. Anywho...FN 2009 is chock-full of faux reality cooking competitions. Consider me your own early warning system for FN. Guy Fieri got yet ANOTHER show this season. That's reason enough to switch channels.

I see the future of FN. 24 hour Guy.

Hey, Izatryt - don't laugh, but, honestly, guess what has been playing on Food Network TV for the last three days, here in Canada - a nonstop marathon of Guy, Guy, Guy - with, of course, a different pair of neck glasses for each show!

"Big Daddy" seems like a nice enough guy, and I enjoyed watching him on TNFNS, but a little of him goes a LONG way, I just can't stand his show.
And Guy's neck glasses make me want to throw things.
Hmm, now that I think of it, I'm not sure there are too many of the FN people I really like anymore.

@bareneed ~ I feel really bad for you!! But, I do wonder if Guy gets to keep all the glasses.

ohhh a whole budget for neck glasses! Now THAT makes a great show!!!

(but i do like ddd)

Saw a promo for this show and didn't know he was a participant in the NFNS reality joke. I'll tell you this, I don't know what his show will be like but for sure he ain't an ugly b@stard.

@bareneed, I actually watched the "Triple D" marathon...

did anyone notice he wears a different "forearm band" in each episode?

for a second there i was like, adam kuban?! lol...

oh yeah, and guy fieri is a TOOL.

I like Adam Gertler. And Aaron McCargo. *shrug*

@ag3208, noooooo! Say it ain't so! My powers of observation are on the fritz - I never noticed that there is a different "forearm band" for each episode - do they match the neck glasses?

Seems to me this was announced quite a while back -- the fact that they were giving him a show, that is. I don't know if I'll like the show or not, but at least FN is playing to his strengths instead of trying to pigeonhole him into stir-and-talk kitchen show. He's probably a good host for this type of thing. He's not afraid to be a bit of a fool, and he's got a decent sense of humor. From what I've seen, this reminds me of the one where the guy gets a week to learn a job. What the heck is that called? Ah, I just looked. Glutton for Punishment. I'll give it a chance.

dbcurrie's right -- they announced Adam's show fairly soon after the competition was over. I think it looks pretty interesting. I don't really watch FN to learn new recipes anymore, except for Tyler, Ina and sometimes Giada. So learning about a different aspect of food or the food industry sounds okay to me.
And it looks like Guy's not really the focus of 'Ultimate Recipe Showdown', so that might make it easier to watch. Might.

I'll be watching. Adam's HOT!

@houston ~ You are incorrigible!

Oh! And can anyone explain the armband thing to me?

I like Big Daddy, and Guy and watch them when I can. When Aaron's show comes on I will give it a shot. Now, if Kelsey got a show that is where I would start throwing things.

I mean ADAM not Aaron lol.

@pjracz10 - I agree about Kelsey, one super-perky cheerleader is more than enough!

Frankly, I don't care for Adam. He always seemed slightly lame, kind of like a tired, over-rehearsed cruise-ship comedian, the type you get embarrassed for (or at least, I tend to). He isn't too hard on the eyes though, but I doubt I'll be watching his show. Oh who am I kidding, I know I won't. But whatever, good for him. At least he's not pretending he can teach anyone how to cook.

The funny thing is, I usually have the FN on at night (I'm a hopeless insomniac), the reason being that I want to have something that doesn't require my intense attention and wouldn't be nightmare-inducing if I happen to fall asleep (I'm prone to those). Although at times, I really have to reconsider the "not nightmare-inducing" part, depending on who's on. Last night, for instance, RR made an appearance and I found that "Law & Order: SVU" was actually a better choice.

Wait...what's his new show?

Ultimate Recipe Showdown did season one last year (2008) and his live show also started last year.

Obviously someone is watching his shows. I watch Diners, Drive-ins and Dives occasionally. But not because of Guy. I'd watch it with any other host really.

Somewhere, Rory is mad as heck! That Amy chick came back and beat her after fraudulent Jag got the boot. Then "star" Amy had about 8 shows and was done. Now Rory has to watch a loser from another season get a show. The agony!

The NFN Star deal is so lame, and it's the kind of thing that has me watching FN less and less. I don't care to see the best cook on my street have a show telling me how to make fried chicken like their grandma did. Spare me the granny stories, though Bob Tuschman freaking loves them.

Give me some accomplished chefs and professionals who are articulate and have enough charisma to teach us some chops that granny don't know.

I miss Julia Child.

But seriously - I saw that Adam will have a show and I might tune in once to see if it's any good. And I'll probably watch the recipe showdown tonight since there's absolutely nothing else on the teevee whatsoever.

I do, however, kinda like NFNS - I only saw that one season (are there more?) - and thought the session with the judges' critiques were handled well - not over the top drama but real constructive criticism and I appreciated that. I did, however, think the wrong person won. Definitely.

I LOVE GUY FIERI....seriously lol...dont assault me...or puke

Dude.... This season sounds like it's "off the hook!" TVFN is "Money"

signed,
Not Guy Fieri....

What a bunch of S#!%heels at TVFN... The dumbing down of food TV all for the sake of ratings. Brooke Johnson is really going "off the hook" to crazyland and she is dragging a circus train with her. Will someone stop the madness and start "Foodie TV" in the name of all things holy!

My 7 year old asked if Guy had eyes in the back of his head, and was that why he needed those glasses.

I'm tired of the over-exposure of all these guys.

Is Lisa Garza getting her own show? I definitely thought Adam or Lisa deserved it more than Aaron (not that he doesn't seem like a good guy).

Hillary
Chew on That

@Hillary, I heard that Garza signed with a different network to do some kind of show, but after that whisper of an announcement, I haven't seen anything else.

I hated Guy when his cooking show first started for cooking tater tots and having guests named "Dirty P." The show has gotten better but the set is ridiculous. Then I started watching DD&D and unexpectedly started liking him. I like the way he interacts with the cooks and owners. I do not like the way he stuffs his face but I have a big problem with the table manners of virtually everyone on the FN.

I'm happy to see that Adam got a show - I liked him on TNFNS but apparently he's not a very good cook. Though I'm not convinced that Aaron McCargo is a good cook, either.

I'm glad for Adam - always seemed like a nice guy trying hard. More power to him.

Kelsey? Lisa? NFW.

cooking tater tots with Dirty P! LOL! That was some lame show. You nailed it. I'm cracking up.

Friday's love affair with Fieri is growing. Just saw an ad last night for his new signature dishes being added to their menu. When will the madness stop? Soon, they'll be selling sunglasses and forearm bands for each day of the week LOL!

@ Juliebugsmama - That comment had me ROF LMAO! Out of the mouth of babes...
