Stella D'Oro Sesame Breadsticks - Whither goest?
Has anyone else noticed these gone from supermarket shelves? Well, from my supermarkets, anyway. They seem to have totally disappeared from Metrowest Boston. Any sightings?

Sorry, I was never a fan of that brand. Pepperidge Farm makes small snacking breadsticks and my favorite is the sesame. Don't know how they compare.

I haven't tried their breadsticks but I've been getting my anise toast, oddly enough, at RiteAid. No one else seems to carry Stella D'Oro.

The Wegman's where I live, in NJ carries the full line--I haven't had any in years, but when I was a tyke my family would get the Swiss fudge rosettes, the chocolate and vanilla fingers, and the S-shaped cookies. Wegman's has them all.

i'm kind of glad they're gone (if they are) stella doro used to be pretty decent years and years ago, but like everything else, a corporation got their hands on the company and ruined them........

Pooch - Kraft did buy Stella d'Oro and did run it into the ground (dropping the Kosher status & mucking around with the recipes). However, they were bought out by a private company in 2006 which has been trying to get the company back to its roots.

Oh man, those bags of cookies with the strangely frosted pink flowers-what I wouldn't give for one of those! We used to pretend the bread sticks were cigars-I have a pretty distinct memory of my dad taking a lighter to them for us so we could pretend to smoke. Yeah, the 60's were weird.
I must be really old because all this talk of Stella Doro made me remember another food from that time I never see anymore-melba toast.

My dad has finally run out of the no sodium breadsticks. Stella Doro was on strike at their Bronx NY factory from August 08 till just recently. The breadsticks still have not reappeared on the shelves at his usual grocery store in NJ. Has anyone noticed if Wegman's has them?

I just phoned the factory in NYC and the receptionist said that the breadsticks are produced occasionally and she has no idea if/when the no sodiums will be made. They are still on strike.
