Shopsin's--moved again?

Friends were down at the Essex Street Market for the inaugural Sunday opening, and claim they saw a sign at Shopsin's saying it was moving to 96th and Lexington.

Is this true? Can this be right? Can this be good?

And who will fry up the bacon for Roni-Sue's Pig Candy if Shopsin's moves to a fourth location?

Maybe Nach Waxman (of Kitchen Arts & Letters) made him an offer.

It'll be a trek for basically all the rest of manhattan, but boy am I psyched to hear that! I'll be two streets away. Oh, please be true....

The website still has the Essex Street address (I keep checking!

Like @aynsl156, I'd be happy to have easier access (three trains to the LES as opposed to one easy bus ride or a 20-minute walk to Carnegie Hill), but I don't like the possible implications of yet another Shopsin's move.

I really need some verification--stat!!

A thousand thanks, Erin, and hearty sighs of relief all 'round.

yeah - hoped it was a prank by some angry kid wishing shopsin's was open. check out the video i took when i saw the note on sunday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djv2CSiQPAg
