Serious Eats Old-Timers... MIA? AWOL?
Does anybody know what's become of chiff0nade? The website in her profile is not up and running and haven't seen her posting here lately. I hope "that man" didn't finally silence her... :-(
Actually, it may just be my own sporadic presence of late, but there are other names I've gotten used to seeing over the past year or two that don't seem to be showing up recently...

I can think of several others. Some have their own (active) blogs, so that's easy. Others? Poof! I know it's the nature of virtual communities, but my curiosity is always piqued when regular posters just suddenly go quiet.
Is there an SE Talker whose absence have you noticed? Or am I just weird? (ok, nevermind that last bit)

@LoCo - you're not weird, or at least, not alone in your weirdness. I also notice it when regular posters disappear, even if it's not been all that long.

Thanks for thinking of me. Having "connection" problems with my computer. It's working at the moment. Hooray. Something got screwed up and the cable company techs haven't a clue. I know more about this stuff than they, and I know nothing! :-D

Hi - sorry for the confusion. I usually sign up to websites as chiffonade (o where the o belongs). A now-mercifully-long-gone troll grabbed my name on this site and I had to sign up as chiff0nade (with the zero) in order to explain some errant behavior and sort of "clean up his mess." Happy to say I've found a snuggly online "home" here at SE. I have never gotten used to doing my name with the zero, so I came up with therealchiffonade which is also the extension to my myspace page.
Perkster!!! Glad to see you. Blast those computer gremlins that get in the way of our online lives!

I would like to say something for the flip side of the coin...I missed you guys when I wasn't able to visit regularly. :)

There's been negativity coming from some people so I think this thread shows that people do genuinely care about members of this community. Other props I wanted to give:

Simon, I'm in the same boat. I've been here for a looong time, but I post under a new name now as well. :) I asked about chiff0nade recently in another thread and no one answered... glad to hear that things are well! I somehow missed the transition to "therealchiffonade," so I've been wondering about that for quite some time.

Wow, I am more and more amazed by the community at SE. Ive seen lots of online communities but this is like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. You guys are the real deal and show genuine compasion for each other. If only the real world could take a page from the SE book.

Glad the chiff0 vs. the real chiff is cleared up. We've all been a little cautious about responding to therealchiff just in case, although we knew it was your "voice".
