I'm a huge fan, but I grew up eating rutabagas. For a little one, they took a little getting used to. They are prominently featured in every family holiday meal - usually mashed with just a little butter, s&p. That comes from either my family's Irish roots, or Mom's Canadian upbringing.
I eat them all year long, either mashed or roasted alone or with other root vegetables - olive oil, thyme or rosemary, s&p. They are also delicious cooked with a roast of any meat.
People who taste them for the first time quickly develop a love or hate relationship. They're not mashed potatoes, but they taste wonderful mashed into mashed potatoes. ;-D
