Multiple news sources are reporting that President-elect Obama is set to name Former Iowa Governor and Democratic Presidential Candidate Tom Vilsack as Secretary of Agriculture. I think with so many potential candidates that could have brought about "Change" to the Agriculture industry and food production, this is a rather safe pick. Iowa is a farm state that has more pigs than people, so Vilsack undoubtedly is familiar with the issue facing the US Ag Industry, but Vilsack has drawn the ire of organic and family farmers. The Organic Consumers Association stated, "Vilsack has a glowing reputation as being a shill for agribusiness biotech giants like Monsanto." What are your thoughts on this pick?
