My resolution is to . . .

What's your new year's resolution? I know of few people who will not be making that new year's resolution to lose weight. Whether it's to lose weight or eat healthier, will you be changing your eating habits? Any particular foods you have decided to integrate into your diets? Or will you throw caution to the wind and eat whatever your tiny tastebuds demand?

I have a couple...

To be even more bitter and angry than the last 10 or so years and send forth more of my hate filled diatribe into the world. (if that is even possible)

Eat less convenient garbage and take a little more time to cook, even if it is just for myself.

Take more walks. Get into my lime green capris again. Eat more fiber. Conquer pastry.

So long, 2008...you really weren't worth a shit.

ChelleyD01 - I fell off my chair laughing! May God bless your fibrous diet, perfect your pastries, bestow upon you time to cook, make your walks burn more calories and fit you into those lime green capris. Here's hoping 2009 will give you less to be pissed at!

cook more, eat more, love more, laugh more

@caramel - well sad.

Oops, sorry... should have been "well SAID"!

My apologies; I guess I'm more tired than I thought I was!

To take up mushroom foraging.

To never make resolutions again, for starters...and to simply play it by ear, go with the flow and see what 2009 has in store for me without much planning.

wake up each and every day!Everything else is gravy!

I thought long and hard about these last week:
1. To be more kind and considerate
2. To quit smoking; so I can taste my meals fully (wish me luck)
3. Relax and not stress the small stuff
4. To smile and laugh as much as possible

@ChelleyD01 - you rule dude; thats hilarious!

@hungrychristel
I second the Relax and not stress the small stuff! and not feel guilty about dumb stuff.

my food related resolutions:
1. learn how to can tomatoes
2. buy more local food, especially meat
3. hit up the U-pick farms more often

1. To think positively and banish the negative triggers in my life
2. To not use food as a comfort tool
3. To organize my photos
4. To plan out my menus and shop wisely and economically
5. To let go of my anxiety and realize that I cannot control everything around me. Roll with it.

1.To use up my fresh fruit and veggies before they "go bad".
2. To be more thankful for all that I have.
3. Plan my menus ahead of time according to what I have on hand.
4. Stop bi***ing at hubby for every little thing.
5. Eat healthier.

1. Learn to make my own pasta.
2. Climb a mountain.
3. Yell less.

I dont make resolutions normally but this year I willl drink nothing but 100% Kona coffee sweetened with Miracle Berries. I also resolve to find a way to use up all my leftover catfish farmer before it goes bad, while unlocking my Iphone and steaming my ravioli dinner with gourmet jarred sauce(is there any such thing?) Those are my resolves for 2009. Barring those I agree with Pav waking up everyday would be great!

@huney ~ You are on a roll today! Happy New Year! I don't believe I have ever made a New Year resolution. But yours sure did get me to thinking!

Not take any crap from anyone anymore!

I am tired of being walked on!!

NO MORE!!

@huney - now, I'm also not big on "New Year's resolutions", but these are the ones I can live by! Don't you just hate it when leftover catfish farmers go to waste?!

Happy New Year to all!

For year 09 I refuse to have any resolutions ! However will agree to take corrective action on items which need attention:

Regarding food and cooking:
I will start using more and different fresh herbs and spices !
I will tackle another liquor - break away from my routine of scotch / gin / vodka / wine !
Buy less packaged and prepared foods - resort to cooking more from scratch !
Stop feeding the kids 'Kid Cuisine' from ConAgra !

just to be the best i can be. maybe let someone cut my hair. paint my nails more often. take more walks. have lunch with izzy and carol.

No resolutions, just more solutions.

Plan my menus....walk the dog more...

To continue to eat like a pig and drink like a fish. Cholesterol and my doctor be damned!

I would like to run in a 5km race in 2009, and you know not die during or after the race. I think I will have to change my eating habits and lifestyle to meet this goal.

Not waste anything edible ever.

I want to work in a Cranberry Bog.
No joke

My resolution is 1280x1024

My husband and I enjoyed a five week trip to Europe this Spring, and it was magical for me to see the love and concern and dedication that the Europeans have towards food preparation from fresh, local and in many cases, organic material. Just walking amongst the stalls at Isle de la Sorgue in Provence, was quite an eye opener - watching folk as they contemplated what they would buy for the family table. I had a mental comparison of myself rushing down the aisles of a supermarket shoving things into the cart, without much thought at all!

Recently, my son walked out of my kitchen with a bag of garlic in his hand and asked why I bought garlic that came from China - I was flabbergasted to say the least, but it was an epiphany. I resolved then and there to take more care in purchasing our food and to look for locally produced items, and so, dear readers, that is my resolution -

Cook and eat a greater variety of vegetables.

I plan to eat more fresh veggies for dinner instead of relying on Lean Cuisines.

Expand my experiences in the hot sauce world as they relate to my Lean Cuisines.

figure out how to pay all my bills and still have enough money left over to be able to buy quality ingredients even though we have 65% less income than we had in August.

a big thank you to the economy for helping me with my 2008 resolution to cook more and eat out less.

oh, and I resolve to be less negative.

1. Not to go Dexter on my in-laws
2.TRY to cook even if I am tired and that pizza place sucks BUT they deliver
3. Enjoy every minute with the kids
4. Try not to die.

Eat dinner in more often and not feel guilty about having just plain pasta once in awhile

Wash more dishes (my poor SO always winds up with cracked, dry skin. Sometimes it should be my turn, too)

1. Try all of Rancho Gordo's beans
2. Eat chocolate daily
3. Try a new wine once a week
4. Attempt to fit in some form of exercise in between the chocolate and wine.

to get to the gym more often, to contra dance at least once a month, and to try bittman's approach to food: vegan until 6pm.

I resolve to cook more out of of the cookbooks that already have, instead of buying new one, to cook with escarole, to eat less pasta, and to have more people over to dinner.

Hm, my spelling seems to be a bit off today...

Learn to enjoy orange vegetables so I dont go blind
Eat less meat, especially less non-yummy meat
Stop saying "my bad," which is really the most obnoxious and addictive expression ever (my 2nd year in a row with this one)

find ways to make exercising fun and enjoyable
play more Wii (we just got the Wii Fit - its fun!! - hula hoop HURTS!)
I like the one about using my ingredients before they go bad - cook those fresh veggies!
I'm in NC - so more farmer's market and local foods
start making foods to take for lunch and eating out less
more "alone" time with the hubby :-D
