McDee and The Mc rib
My sil adores mcribs. When they come back for the limited time she actually calls me on the phone in ecstasy! I HATE them with a passion, but I appreciate her joy.Do you like the Mcrib? In the post about the fish sandwich meg asked this and I thought it deserved a post.
Do you think part of the excitement is because it isn't a regular menu item?

Yes I like the McRib (hangs head in shame).....

Although the filet-o-fish may be one of my fave guitly pleasures, eew...
It may be my luck, but every time I have tried one, I have found some mysterious, nauseating, gristle -type chunk that makes me stop eating it..

I am ashamed of loving those rubbery, sauce slathered, tangy torpedoes but they get me every time. The McRib makes me feel like a heroin addict, once I see the commercial I shake and fee miserable until that delectable sauce touches my lips then I shiver in ecstasy and collapse. Well that may be a bit of an exageration but I do really like them.

@twoojoe
I think that is the Ribwich from Krustyburger you are talking about.
A limited time offer from KrustyBurger, a overprocessed BBQ-rib sandwich. Due to the sauce's addictive nature (it was known for causing death from hypertension with a single bite), it led to the extinction of the source where the meat originated from, the whale.
The last known box of ribwich was sold to a French man who traded his Ferrari GTX-350 for it.

Am I missing something, what the hell is a McRib?
pjracz10 at 7:52PM on 12/11/08
pjracz10--believe me, you are not missing anything.

Here is an image of the McRib. You can't tell from the photo, but the mystery meat patty is shaped like a little riblet with bones, only, there are no bones. Further it is slathered in a sickly sweet bbq sauce add pickles and maybe onions and there you go...the McRib....McBleccchh

When I asked about the McRib, I didn't even know if they still made them or what not. I only go to McD's for the fries, to be honest. But, really, I hadn't been to one in years until I went to this one in France in September. Fries were cold. So disappointing.
@love2cook- Thanks for posting this!

I am not ashamed! I love those riblet shaped patties slathered in tangy bbq sauce.
caroliiine at 8:59PM on 12/11/08
My husband loves them but I think they're nassssty!!
caramel at 9:45PM on 12/11/08
I liked them when I was a kid and didn't think about what was in them. I always got extra pickles and extra onions. It helped a lot. Now nothing can help them.

mmmmm McRibs...first had one in Wisconsin and here in CA they are very rarely offered...haven't had one in 3 years.....I miss them.
lamora at 11:32PM on 12/11/08
Gardenburger has vegetarian riblets that look and taste very similar and are much healthier.
HeartofGlass at 9:24AM on 12/12/08
I'll admit it, I had a double McRib EVM the other day and it was great.
Dave the Barbarian Chef at 10:51AM on 12/12/08
the mcrib makes me think of the simpsons episode when krusty burger offers the ribwich.
"the animal we make the meat from is extinct."
"the cow? the pig?"
"no, think smaller and more legs."
i do love the mcnasty.
gastrodamus at 10:52AM on 12/12/08
That is so funny I have never ever had one of these, but then it has been years that I have been at a McDonalds since i don't live close to one, and when I did stop in I would just automatically order a qrt pounder w/cheese.
pjracz10 at 2:52PM on 12/12/08
I had one once, but I much prefer the Filet o' Fish. If I'm going to indulge in bad food, it might as well be something I like (like the FoF, french fries, Chicken McNuggets with sweet and sour sauce...yum).
cochon at 4:59PM on 12/13/08
I will quote you a conversation I had with my brother, who also loves the McRib.
((Ahem))
"When you can show me an animal with ribs that have no bones, I'll eat a McRib in front of you."
therealchiffonade at 5:09PM on 12/13/08
I might like it because I love bar q sauce and pork, would like it better if I could have a big hunk of melted cheddar and then top it coleslaw and jalapeno peppers on top of that. Too bad I don't live close to McDonlads so I can see if they have it and try it.
pjracz10 at 7:28PM on 12/13/08
well Pjracz10, I personally would need proof that that is pork and that is BBQ sauce! thats going to be an uphill climb I believe!
everyone is missing I believe the real travesty that is the McRib......that bun! as bad as McD's "bread" is, the bun for the McRib is extra tasteless(unless aluminum oxide and grease are flavors you are looking for in a piece of bread) and an even worse texture! reminds me of chewing on memory foam!
concreteoatmeal at 1:20AM on 12/16/08
Just can't order one....fake preformed ribs slathered in commercial bbq sauce...ewwww! Hmm no comparison when I really think about it. A rib needs a bone, smoke flavor, nice rub, little sauce and a beer...none of which you can get at McDonalds.
I'll stick with my usual McD salad while the kids play.
Ribster at 7:03PM on 12/19/08
I can't do the McRib. Tried it once and it reminded me of the rib sandwiches served in my school cafeteria. I think it's the consistency of the "meat" that gets to me.
