I LOOOVE GUY FIERI

Why do people want to either assault me or throw-up when I say this? I DON'T get it....

55 Comments:

I just threw up in my mouth alittle....

He's abrasive, overbearing, too entertained with himself, and does the same thing over and over again. Every time my father sees him stuffing his face on Diners, he asks, "That guy is still alive?"
I thought the show was entertaining at first, but now he's just plain annoying.

OH I GET IT...... where are the cameras???? I almost fell for that... HAHAHA good one!

I like him....but I don't Looove him. I think he's just a veeerrryyy lucky foodie that got a break and is now living out his dream and 15 minutes of fame, traveling around stuffing his face with all types of yummy things we've all spoken about here on the site. So I'm not sure why all the hate either...unless it's jealousy that some of us are sitting behind a computer talking about it, while Guy is out there doing it.

I can tell you for a fact Guy is not living my dream..... my dream involves jumper cables, bacon grease, a shepherds crook and some animal crackers.... Guy may be lucky in that he probably gets a decent salary, but I sure as heckfire wouldn't want to eat half the crap he does.

gee Pavlov except for the animal crackers you just described my fantasy ;-) Guy is ok in VERY small doses, kinda like RR and a few others. But the exposure FN is giving him is just overkill at this point.

I fully support your decision to enjoy Fieri. Sometimes he makes food that I can appreciate. His style, attitude, voice, and on-air personality, however, make me incredibly confused. Like many "celebrities," on the rare occasion I pay him any attention, I feel like I become trapped in some sort of feedback loop, recalling experiences not unlike an acid trip, almost out of body as it seems truly incredulous to me that I exist in a reality where he is famous, and I believe that such a world cannot possibly exist, and instead that I must be dream or perhaps seeing an alternate reality because it simply cannot be real that he is famous, but at the same time being fully aware that it is, in fact, not a dream and that truly truly amazing things happen everyday. Awesome and terrifying at the same time.

back up off my boyfriend!

Come on SEer's if any one of us had a food show would everyone just love us? Would millions of people wait with baited breath for our show every week or Tivo the show? Some would most would not. It's just too easy to sit back and be an armchair food show host. If you don't like the dude fine don't watch him. Me--I can take him or leave him. He really does not push any button one way or the other......now Shmandra................

@ Pavolov -- you are hilarious. shepherds crook....!! ;o)

I think he is fun and a happy guy, and I am jealous of all the yummy things he gets to try on DD&D.

Im jealous too, and love his personality! I think hes one of the only FN hosts who ACTUALLY have a real personality...

I find him very entertaining

Who is Guy Fieri?

And here I was thinking the purpose behind FN was ...oh I dunno.... Food?!
But I guess it hasn't been about food in quite a few years and many talented people ago.....

@ juliebugsmama.....it used to be a cattle prod... until cattle prods became politically incorrect....so now it's all about the hook in the crook!

i'm with the guy lovers! i think he's fun and I am so jealous of his triple D job! I would love to go to kitschy places and eat horribly but deliciously greasy food all day!

Dont know that I'd be in a rush to eat at either of his restaurants though...I read the menus at both and they just seem like a souped up version of a Friday's or Chili's...

he's a d-bag.

He's a little over the top at times, but I do like DDD for the simple reason that I get see what average people are eating around the country.

When I want to see what average people are eating, I like to go to a Wal-Mart superstore.... it usually scares the hell out of me to the point I go back home and don't worry about what other people are eating.

@Pavlov--I won't go near a Wal-Mart or Wal-Mart superstore. I break out in hives at the mere thought--now give me a Benadryl please ; )

He drives a KILLER car.......just sayin'.

Have you ever considered that you may suffer from a poor self-image? You deserve nice things, too, just like other people. And you deserve a lot better than a Neanderthal like Guy Fieri. You can be helped.

He is a novelty, Biker Billy Cooks with Jewelry. His restaurants serve TGIF style food, maybe that is why he is the spokesperson. His manner is a bit oafish.

Look over the menus.
Another FN star. zzzzzzz
I don't mind his oooh wow look at me stuffing my face on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. It is like watching a train wreck. Oh holy cow honey come look Guy is stuffing the whole thing in his mouth again, hurry hurry.
That guy has a big mouth, I saw him put a chuck roast in it once.
The hair is scary. Would be ok if your 20, Guy is not 20 he is 40.

@dhorst--I'm with you there, and that goes double if it's the 1st or the 15th of the month.

I can tolerate Guy. Sometimes. That's all.

I wouldn't make most of the things he cooks on his show, but I can see his appeal for some people. I like his Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show though.

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! barf

@onepercent~OMG the car~~~~~~I'd sleep with him in a heartbeat. And I DON"T like him. the car........
@finsbigfan~YES. People would tivo me everyday and demand that I was on more often.

I do like how cute he is with his sister and mother when they're on.

It seems that everytime I check to see what's on FN, it's him on one of his shows or him in one of his commercials. Overexposure seems to be part of the FN business plan. Guy Fieri seems like the type who would appeal to guys who cook for the Super Bowl party and maybe fire up the grill on occasion. He calls most of his meats big boys. "I'm gonna throw this big guy in some killer hot sauce, then that big boy is gonna hit the grill." What's up with that? I didn't know meat had a gender. 0;-D

For the record, I do like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. As a result of this thread, I decided to check out wikipedia for a bio on Guy. Is it true that his original name was Guy FERRY?

I think I'd like him better if he'd switch from uppers to downers.

I've been known to refer to Guy Fieri as the male Rachael Ray.

HAHA, He could totally be RR.
Although, sadly, she may give more.

@onepercent and MISSTEXAS: Man, that car is sweet!! Would like to go for a ride in that!

I find him entertaining and like DD&D-I find the food fascinating. I did not know food could be made like that. He is going to have some issues when he gets older.

That said, I would not/do not make anything from his show.

Guy = Poochie

That being said, I like Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

@Pavvie ~ I went to a super Wal-Mart under great protest recently. The "steakhouse" steaks were gray. I ran out of the place screaming! My friend braved the elements to purchase Corelle dishes for her son's college apartment.

I only like him because he reminds me of my mailman. 'Cept my mailman doesn't have that douchey bleached hair. Nor does he ramble on about Friday's. But other than that, they could be twins. Mailman's cuter, tho.

Seeing him stuff his face makes my skin crawl. Watching most shows about food makes me hungry. Watching him makes me nauseated. His stupid bleached hair, the sunglasses on the back of his neck, and the shaved arms . . . it all adds up to giant douche bag.

i'm wary of anybody who shucks for friday's.
this is what really grossed me out the other day though...he 'de-blinged' but didn't wash his hands-just started rubbing raw pork...then he didn't even bother to mention what was in the rub-just that it was very expensive. he's lame-gimme alton.

I personally enjoy him, but I can understand how some people don't like him.

I really like Guy... DDD is the only Food Network show that I can get my fiance to watch (and enjoy!).

I want to take those darn stupid sunglasses off the back of his head and throw them! He makes me want to scream, and not in a good way, either.

Dude!!
Guy is MONEY!!!

Seriously I haven't heard that expression used that many times since the movie Swingers and that was made in 1996! He is too loud in a drunk frat boy kind of way.

It's the whole "over the top" "out there" "in your face" thing. For all I know the guy can cook - I just can't actually watch him.

This Guy Sux. I like the idea of the show. People writing in to tell about their favorite spots. Its about the "mom and pop" sports. ...but dam Guy is so annoying. his hairstyle is outdated. too much wack ass jewelry for one guy and the dumb sunglasses behind the neck fucking makes me cringe. i want to knock them off his neck. but he has no neck. the guy just makes me cringe. i choose not to watch the show cause just the fact that he is on the TV screen makes me sick. now he gets sideline passes to sporting events and courtside hoops tix. Im not a hater i just dont like him.

He's kinda over the top (and good grief, the bleached hair and the bling...), but I like him anyway. :) He seems like the kind of fellow I wouldn't mind having as a neighbor...bizarre, but ultimately pretty good-hearted and a people person.

gag me with a ginsu knife. this guy is the poster child for all that is bad about the whole celebrity food business. sophomoric, uninteresting, ego-driven drivel that leaves you feeling like you just had some bad chinese food at the food court at the mall. please, please food network, give us less of this guy. or at least get him a haircut. it's really embarrassing.

@ missmanders "He's kinda over the top".... is like being kinda pregnant?
or kind dead.... Guy is over the top, hell I think that's one of his catch phrases....

I think the thing that bothers me the most about guy is he gets people excited about how he looks, (freakish in an "older guy tryin to be hip" sorta way) what he's saying, and not looking at the CRAP he is eating.

But then again...... I'm kinda crazy........

I can't stand him. He's definitely not living this foodie's dream.

The hair, the bling, those damned sunglasses on the back of his head ... It's time to update!! You all don't really believe the Camaro is his personal vehicle?!
Guy, dude, just tone it down a smidge!

I like triple D but I don't care for his cooking. His recipes just don't look/sound appealing. Plus, I agree with lindy123, it is time for an update.

Well, I do like Guy F. and appreciate his ability to chop, peel, slice, dice, pour, fry, boil, and talk at the SAME time and I just take what I need and like from his recipes...good grief..He's one style of man and a cook.. To me what HE DOES is the miracle in his gift to me as I watch his show. Ann

I actually loooove him too! If given a choice of having one of the 'network' stars preparing a meal especially for me, I'd choose him. I think he's funny, down-to-earth and has a great personality. I love DD&D...he doesn't feature 'normal' DD&Ds, almost all that I've seen are very special, and I'd KILL to have one of those in my neighborhood. I mean, those people are cooking REAL food, lots of it looks way better than stuff you find in most 'restaurants' these days. So, if YOU hate him, fine. He obviously appeals to lots of people, thank goodness. And, oh, BTW, I am a chef in an 'upscale' restaurant, and have been cooking for nearly 30 years now. Sure, I love foie gras and caviar, etc. but I ALSO love REAL, everyday-type food as long as it's made with great ingredients. Most of the cooks he interviews on DD&D actually DO use 'the best' stuff. So there!!!

I'm not big on his attitude or his look but I do enjoy DD&D alot. I got the book for Chanukah and it comes with a DVD (anyway at FYE it does). When he won The Next Food Network Star, I was disappointed as I didn't vote for him but I see what they saw in him. He has a lot of personality. You don't have to like him.

I don't like his manly man attitude or the fact that they play sports or fishing on that tv in the background of his tv show. I find that annoying. Some of his recipes look good though. I am trying his Mac Daddy Mac & Cheese next weekend for a pot luck thing. M&C with bacon and panko crumbs and 2 kinds of cheese??? mmmm...got me!

So I may not like his attitude but he has a lot of personality and he can cook. So, he won the contest fair and square (unlike that guy on Rachael's show who was turning burners off and stuff on "So You Think You Can Cook 3" - Marvin? Anyway, at least he did it honestly and with personality.

I may not be a big fan but doesn't mean I can't enjoy his shows or his food.
